2008.

I know it’s a bit late to do a review for 2008, but I’m doing it anyway.

so here’s what the year looked like:

2.1 – Jesca Hoop at the Soho

4.26 – Coachella: Rilo Kiley, Kraftwerk, Portishead, and Prince’s opening song (and some other bands but I don’t remember their names)

5.28 – Mates of State at the Fonda

5.29 – Ladytron at the Fonda

6.18 – Rilo Kiley at the Greek Theatre

7.20 – Feist w/Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings at the Hollywood Bowl

8.7 – The Faint at the Fonda

8.24 – Radiohead w/the Liars at the Hollywood Bowl (although didn’t make it in time for the Liars)

9.10 – Ratatat w/Panther and E*rock at the Fonda

10.2 – Sigur Ros at the Greek

10.10 – The National w/Grizzly Bear at the Hammerstein Ballroom

10.14 – Yelle at Webster Hall

10.31 – Asobi Seksu w/the Love Grenades at the Echo

Some highlights were getting to see the National and Yelle in New York.  Asobi Seksu was fun.  Radiohead always puts on a good show.  And for the Faint, I lost my friends, got pushed to the front, and was completely drunk for good measure (also my phone got smashed).

Maybe it was just me, or maybe the weed, or maybe the truth, but Sigur Ros transformed the Greek into Sleepy Time, USA.  Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoy their music, they create a beautifully textured soundscape, but I was a wee bit bored during their live show.
